Great show, but I wouldn’t compare a dump desert like Iraq to the beauty of Viet Nam. The Amazing Race has passed thru on two different shows and the footage was awesome. Hey, politics aside, for a great movie on Viet Nam is The Quiet American which depicts what led to the war.

You may recall Iraq being called the “fertile crescent” back in high school history. It isn’t all dessert. There are also site like Ashur (Qal’at Sherqat) (http://whc.unesco.org/en/list/1130) because of the wealth of history in the region.
That being said, I don’t think that was the point of the comparison Alie made.

Regarding the AirTran situation regarding the coulple with a 3 year child who refused to sit in a seat… The bottom line is that the rules are the rules. It is true that the FAA mandates a child over the age 2 is to be in his/her own seat. In other words, children over the age 2 are not considered “LAP CHILDREN.” Further, it is also the DOT (department of transportation) that has determined such. The DOT also determines carseat regulations both in automobiles and airplanes. With this, much of this is done for the safety of all parties involved. If one refuses to be seated and belted in…well, the safety is being compromised. The airline employess do not do the testing and write all the rules to determine proper ages for lap children/carseats, etc… Rather, the airline employees are only following the rules that they must follow in order to “operate” under the FAA rules. With this, I would be more concerned if the airline personnel did not enforce such rules.
