Saguaro Cactus – Phoenix, Arizona – Photo Friday

This picture is from my most recent trip which was to Pheonix Arizona. We visited the Desert Botanical Garden (which I will write more about later) where many of the desert plants were in full bloom. This is a picture taken with a zoom lens of the top of one of the saguaro cactuses. What I liked about this picture is that it does not even look real. This looks to me like something out of Dr Suess rather than something out of the desert. The native americans harvest the fruit at the top of the cactus with a long poll.

There is definitely something very ‘Seussian’ looking about that cactus! The flower also reminds me of an anemone, thanks for sharing.

I love this picture!!!! I was there for a week and everyday we made sure to come to this park to see the sunset set on these prickly giants. We used say that the minute we leave, they’ll all start dancing!

Interesting picture.. hmmm those brownish lump growing out of the cactuses.. I actually thought they were some sort of honey-filled fruits or something of the like.. but then I saw one with a flower blooming out of it.. I really had no idea! very nice

I like photos like these where the photographer really zooms in on a subject and just shows you part of it. You can puzzle over what something really is, as in this photo, or get something really abstract looking!
