Outdoor Cafe - Rethymno Crete

This beautiful cafe in Rethymno (or Rethymnon) Crete is a familiar scene for me. I love sidewalk cafes. I think because I grew up in a town that was always so cool (in temperature only) by 3 PM that you had to wear a sweatshirt, the idea of weather so nice you can (or so warm you have to) sit outside is awesome. The chalkboard in the scene also gives me hope for some seasonal special. The grape arbor invites me to its shade. Now of course, what looks lovely to the photographer may look horrible to the restaurateur. Where are all the people?  We were in Rethymno in the shoulder season in May before the crowds of Summer hit, but the restaurants also fill up later in the early evening.

I agree, the idea of an outdoor cafe is nice for colder climate folks. Your picture is very inviting.
