This is one of Hong Kong’s famous Star Ferries in a picture taken from one of her sister ships. The Star Ferry is a quick and enjoyable way to travel between Southern Kowloon (the Tsim Sha Tsui or “TST” neighborhood) and Hong Kong island. On our first couple days in Hong Kong it has been raining or threatening to rain so we may have to ride it again when the weather is clearer. The ride only costs HK$2.50 to ride in the top deck (US$.32) and less to ride in the lower deck. Even if you just miss the boat there is another boat coming along quickly. The ships have double bows so that they don’t have to take the time to turn around. The seats in the boat also can easily switch which direction they face by sliding the seat back one way or the other.

This photo is looking back north to Kowloon at a new complex that includes the W Hotel.

This photo is looking south to Hong Kong island. It shows Two International Finance Centre which is the 2nd tallest building in Hong Kong, the 3rd tallest in China and the 7th tallest in the world. It only recently lost the honor of the tallest building in Hong Kong in 2010 to the International Commerce Centre. Two International Finance Centre is 415m / 1,362f tall.
