Kowloon (the color and lack there of) – Hong Kong – Daily Photo

The first thing I should say is that we have been loving Hong Kong. The food is great. The sightseeing is great. The shopping is great.
That being said, one thing that has surprised me about Hong Kong that this photo captures is that sometimes I think Hong Kong was designed by someone with a sore neck. Notice in this picture the riot of color and activity at ground level but then starting at 15-20 up the buildings often become drab, dreary and / or dingy. This is true in many of the neighborhoods in Kowloon.

Good observation Chris. I never really thought about it – but it is true. There’s so much going on at street level in Kowloon I never bother to look up! Have you made it to the various markets in Kowloon yet?

We have been to the flower, fish and bird markets, the ladies market, the Temple Street night market, Stanley market and several smaller street markets in Kowloon.
