Airport Transit Guide by Salk Internation

I’ll confess I’m an app-aholic. As a travel enthusiast, I’ve downloaded every free travel app onto my iPhone. I’ve even paid for more than a few. I’m always trying to get an advantage in my travel, whether it’s in price or in time savings. The Salk Airport Transit Guide application is a travel app that, I believe, will do both.

Let’s start with the premise. The application does one thing; it explains your transportation options to and from airports. Initially, that doesn’t seem like much but the detailed descriptions, phone numbers, and the sheer numbers of options are staggering. In the airport sections, of course, are website information, phone numbers for taxis or busses, current prices, parking costs and details. There is handicap traveler information and even helicopter options if available.

I wish I would have had this during my recent trip to Paris where I attempted to use the train out of the airport. Simply having this application would have saved me about $25 and an hour of aggravation. I could have taken a shuttle to exactly where I was going. The app, in the case of Paris, has information on every shuttle bus, taxis, trains, and any other way to get to a hotel from the airport.
I looked up my home airport and was amazed at all the options that I never knew of. Being close to New York City, I assumed that most of the travel would be into the city. The author also includes options to get into various New Jersey cities and even some in Connecticut and Pennsylvania.

This information does come with a price tag though. At $9.99, it is expensive for an iphone application. I believe, though, that you will see the benefit from the first time you use it.

David,

Thank you ever so much for your great review of my app, and especially for understanding exactly what it means for the traveler — amateur and professional. For 28 years, we’ve worked hard to achieve this. And the app is a daring adventure for us.
