2015 Year in Review

With the passing of another year, it seems like a good time to take stock of a very busy 2015.

What Changed at Amateur Traveler in 2015

  • 1.25M downloads of the Amateur Traveler podcast last year (down a bit from 2014, but Amateur Traveler was not featured in iTunes in 2015)
  • Amateur Traveler turned 10 years old in July and is a month away from its 500th episode
  • I interviewed the Director of the Peace Corp
  • 195K downloads of This Week in Travel podcast last year (nearly double 2014)
  • This Week in Travel had its 200th episode with Samantha Brown from the Travel Channel
  • We restarted doing Amateur Traveler trips with a very successful trip to Morocco (Cambodia is coming this April)
  • The Amateur Traveler website has a new design
  • I traveled to 11 new countries last year and was on 5 continents, my goal had been 5 (Argentina, Uruguay, Falkland Islands, Chile, Morocco, Taiwan, Thailand, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovenia barely, and Portugal)
  • I traveled to one new state Alaska (and have only to get to 5 more: North Carolina, Mississippi, Alabama, North Dakota and New Mexico)
  • I took 3 cruises: Holland America, Un-Cruise and Viking River Cruises
  • I spoke at conferences in Spain, Thailand, Ft Lauderdale and Lexington, KY
  • I only lost one SLR Camera (left in a Buenos Aires Taxi)
  • Amateur Traveler’s long time editor Jay moved on, part of the reason we only had 46 episodes last year instead of 47 which is the average over the first 10 years
  • I worked 4 part-time jobs to support all thus including my own BloggerBridge.com startup.
  • BloggerBridge.com customers now include AirBerlin, Alaska Air, Visit Britain, Visit Belgium, Context Travel and more
