In the Shadow of the Cross – Santorini, Greece – Photo

categories: europe travel

This month on the Amateur Traveler facebook fan page I am having a photo contest with the theme “Shadows”. This picture “In the Shadow of the Cross” is from Sherry Ott and was taken on Santorini.

Sherry says:

Santorini is a feast for the eyes and most of the time your eyes are overstimulated by the beautiful blue vistas, and charming buildings.  As the sun went down this day I wandered the twisting pathways of Santorini hoping to catch a golden glow on the white and blue buildings.  Somehow I was able to look past all of the overstimulation and focus on the one thing that we seldom notice – the grey shadows.  People take a million photos of blue domed churches in Greece, I felt like this was a non-traditional take on a often photographed site.
