Travelers to South America can visit vast but shrinking rain forests, sprawling cities, colonial cities, Incan ruins, cattle country or awesome mountains. South America ranges from the tropics to the Southern Ocean. It is an inexpensive destination for those with a sense of adventure and perhaps a little knowledge of Spanish or Portuguese.
