Corniglia.
Is pronounced “Cor neel ya” with the accent on the second syllable.
The Italian “gli” is as difficult for English speakers as the English “th” is for Italian and French speakers.
I still can’t do it quite right, but if I say it quickly, the Italians pretend not to notice.
Beautiful country – great if you’re a mountain goat π
As for Portofino – try it in late September – still crowded, but at least you can get a parking space. I remember the electronic signs on the road leading there saying that you were “X” minutes away and being very glad that it wasn’t the heart of the tourist season.

Thanks, I knew my Italian was rusty. Since then I have studied Turkish, Russian, Mandarin, Swahili and Greek. Sometimes they get a bit muddled.
