Two things I learned before I went to Tokyo 17 years ago (that may still be relevant): 1) don’t take a taxi from Narita to the city…it’s very far away! take the train, and 2) the beef is expensive.

I loved Tokyo! We stayed at the Mercure in the heart of downtown. One thing that was weird about Tokyo, was that the streets (at least it appeared this way to us) seemed to be completely unmarked. Even our cab driver got lost once. Fortunately he was really nice about it & honest & didn’t charge us for all the extra loops around the block.

We were lucky enough to visit this really OLD Kabuki theater that is so gorgeous from the outside – we heard while we were there (2009) that it was going to be torn down and rebuilt! What a shame!

The Imperial Gardens are also gorgeous.

Check out my series of posts about how we packed light and carried on for 9 days in Japan!

Just wondering – do you have any posts about Kyoto planned? It was my absolute favorite city!

I don’t have a show on Kyoto planned yet. I would need a guest. Were you volunteering?
