Matt Kepnes is well known in the travel community as Nomadic Matt, with a well-read website of the same name. So you would think that when someone of this caliber puts out a book like “How to Travel the World on $50 a Day,” the book would be packed with useful information.

Thankfully this book is.

Granted those who are already doing the extended round-the-world travel may find these tips serve as more reminders, but there’s still bound to be little tidbits you didn’t know.

But for those who are just starting out on extended travel and those who are on the fence about whether or not it’s fiscally possible for them to do extended travel, this book will be so useful.

In the book, Matt first covers the basics of pre-planning, including an eye-opening comparison on how much it costs living on the road versus staying put in an apartment with all the basic bills that come with it.

He then breaks down by region, approximate costs of things like hostels, food and transportation. As he says in the books, some areas may cost a little more than $50 a day, but for long-term travel, it does average out.

In addition to the tips and tricks, Matt also includes a section full of useful coupons at the back of the book. Most of these are for hostels and transport in Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

According to the Nomadic Matt website, the book, normally priced at $27.97 USD, is currently discounted to $19.97 USD. Add to that a 100% satisfaction guarantee (email within 30 days if not satisfied and get a full purchase price refund), and there’s no reason not to give this book a try. There’s no shipping charges, either, since the book only comes in digital formats (PDF, Kindle, iPhone).

Overall, this is an informative and useful book, especially for those who are just starting out on extended travel. Even if you are only planning for a few weeks on the road, it’s still possible to save money with the information and coupons within this book.
