Dustin Hoffman and My Day as Paparazzi
categories: europe travelIf you are a regular reader of this blog then you know I take a lot of photographs. Most of my photos end up on my blog or are just shot for personal enjoyment and (the odd travel poster aside) I generally don’t sell my photographs. But I did have the chance to sell a photograph over this last year to A&E Networks.
Twice in our travels we have stumbled upon movie sets. In the Summer of 2008 we were walking along the banks of the Themes in London when we came upon the cast and crew of Last Chance Harvey including one of the two stars of the movie Dustin Hoffman. A well behaved crowd of onlookers had gathered to watch the movie making process (which, it should be pointed out, is a slow and tedious process to watch). Dustin Hoffman finished shooting his scene and then came over to watch it on the monitors near us. I shot a few still images as well as video that ended up in London β Pageantry and Drama β Amateur Traveler
Video Episode 55.
I posted my pictures on flickr.com/chris2x like so many other photos but some time later a producer found my picture and contacted me. He purchased one of the photo for use in a documentary on the actor. I have not yet seen the film so I don’t know for sure that they used it, but in any case that picture made enough to pay for our dinner that night. So Dustin, if you are reading this. Next time dinner is on me.

I’ll have to keep a closer look out next time I’m in London for any celebs – There’s something that makes me feel that it’s a bit rude to take intrusive photos of celebs- I want to stay cool and pretend I hang out in that mileu all the time. But then if it was paying my dinner I might overcome my inhibitions

What a great story! I’ve run into a few movie sets, too, but no celebs. Usually just scenes that include things like elephants in the streets of Bangkok!
