I must take issue with the comment on the word origin of “gaudy.”

I left my ipod (=pacemaker) in the car this morning but I remember these 2 points from 8+ years ago. Bob Costas made the same erroneous comment during the ’92 Olympics. I saw the late night broadcast and his correction later that week. Bob also listed the error as one of his biggest blunders of the last century during a 1999 year/century review. And I’m not even a big sports fan 🙂

Here are 2 links noting the error and the possible “true” origin. Keep up the great show – hope to be a guest some day!

I often leave my ipod (read: pacemaker) in the car when I enter work but I remember these 2 incidents that are 8+ years old 🙂

Bob Costas made the same error during the ’92 Olympic coverage. I recall the late night show and his correction/apology the following evening. Bob also noted the foible as one of his biggest, on-air blunders of the 20th century during a year/century wrap up at the close of 1999.

Here are 2 links to note the error and possible “true” origins of the word gaudy. Keep up the great podcast – hope to be a guest some day!
