The Amateur Traveler continues the conversation about why you should learn a language or at least learn some of a language before traveling.
This episode also talks about travel to New Orleans. Hear about the French Quarter, great places to eat, the D-day Museum, and the Battle of New Orleans battlefield.
If you have have been to New Orleans then you too may have tried the very traditional snack of a beignet at the world-famous Cafe du Monde. As you can see from the photo the correct way to eat a beignet (fried dough liberally covered in powdered sugar) is bent over at the waist. Or at least this is the only way we found to eat them without ending up covered in powdered sugar.
Cafe du Monde has burned down (I am going to guess in a grease fire) since we were there but has been rebuilt. They are also well known for their coffee with chicory.
