Visiting Universal Orlando Resort in Florida (Podcast)

Hear about visiting Universal Orlando Resort as the Amateur Traveler talks to Eric Stoen from travelbabbo.com about his and his kids’ favorite theme parks.

Eric has visited the resort nine times in the last few years and I have visited 4 times. We have both been on Universal’s Blog Squad as sponsored bloggers for some of those trips.

Eric says, “Well before my Blog Squad duties I was flying across the country with my kids and that’s why I wanted to partner with Universal, just because it was our favorite park anywhere. We live in California and it’s all the way over in Florida but we have just always loved it and my kids have always loved it.”

Universal Orlando Resort has 3 parks: Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Volcano Bay. It also has Universal City Walk. The popular Wizarding World of Harry Potter spans both Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

We talk about the best time of the year to go to Universal. If you can avoid being there during school holidays you will have a better experience. Eric has found that in the last two weeks of August that Florida schools are back in session but his kids are still on break. He also found that in mid to late May you can get a lot of Orlando school groups in the park. I have visited in early December when the park is decorated but before school gets out. Celebration Harry Potter weekend in January is a fantastic time to go if you are a Potter fan. One of the biggest events for Universal is Halloween Horror Nights in the month before Halloween… if you like to be scared.

Universal Orlando Resort has 6 hotels on property across a wide range of prices with a 7th opening in 2019, Endless Summer. The Endless Summer will be the most affordable of the hotels. With the top 3 hotels, you get an Express Pass and with all of the hotels, you get early admission. Factor that into the price when you are booking hotels.

Eric has 3 kids so we talk about their favorite rides as well as our own. You would not be surprised to find out how much we love The Wizarding World of Harry Potter but might be surprised which is our favorite park.

We discuss early admission, Express Pass, single rider lines and how to get the most out of your vacation at Universal Orlando Resort. Come hear why this has become a favorite theme park for Eric’s family and for many others.
