Hear about travel to 4 national parks in British Columbia as the Amateur Traveler talks to Carolyn B. Heller author of “Moon Vancouver & Canadian Rockies Road Trip”.
Carolyn says “I know a lot of your listeners are probably familiar with Banff and Jasper National Parks in Alberta and the Canadian Rockies and I know you’ve done a couple of those episodes. But, I wanted to talk to you today about four more national parks that are on the British Columbia side of the Rocky Mountains and those parks are Mount Revelstoke, Glacier, Yoho and Kootenay. They’re all more or less off Highway 1 which is the TransCanada highway.”
We talk about an itinerary that includes time to hike a number of trails, take a dip in a hot spring, ride a kayak or a raft on the Kicking Horse River and maybe even take in some heli-hiking… if your budget allows.
As busy as the Alberta side of the Rockies gets, Carolyn guides us to some less crowded yet also stunning locations on the B.C. side. She does, however, point out which destinations are so popular you will need to plan to see them months in advance.
Along the way, we will learn something about Canada history, what some of the First Nations used to eat, how to do mountain climbing without doing mountain climbing and some stunning rail journeys.
Check the air in your tires, pack the kids in the back seat and let’s hit the road in British Columbia.
