An interesting podcast. Jeff is correct: the scenery and food in Tuscany are extraordinary. Going in October, as he suggests, can be risky: it can be rainy by then. And it should be emphasized that one can do these trips on their own; a tour operator is not necessary. We have taken commercial tours, and we have done trips on our own. Overall we prefer the latter as it gives us the flexibility to change our schedule as we see fit. We plan on returning to Tuscany/Umbria in Spring 2007 for another bicycle tour. Highly recommended for anyone who likes to cycle and loves great wine, food, and scenery.
