NetFlix on the iPhone

NetFlix on the iPhone

I had to get a Smog Check for my car today. That is neither difficult nor particularly expensive, but it is boring. You just wait for 20-25 minutes while they run tests. It is not long enough to go anyplace else.

But… today rather than just sit there I watched TV shows from my Instant Queue on NetFlix on my iPhone using NetFlix’s new app.

Instant Queue

NetFlix’s Instant Queue is a relatively new and constantly improving feature of the NetFlix service. In addition to being able to check out DVDs by mail the Instant Queue let’s you watch certain movies and TV shows from their ever growing collection. At first that collection was sparse but recently I have been entertained for hours using the Instant Queue. I just finished re-watching the TV series “Veronica Mars” and am working my way through See all
“Avatar: The Last Airbender”. You can get access to the instant queue with any paid monthly subscription to NetFlix.

iPhone App

The new iPhone App is free and let’s you connect to the same videos as you can watch on your computer via either wi-fi or 3G on your iPhone for no additional charge.

I can imagine that next time I am in an airport on a long layover I won’t have to worry about being entertained… although I may have to worry about battery life, depending on the layover.

Hmmm…This might be enough to get me to reinstate my Netflix. I usually suspend it over the summer because I never have time to watch movies.
