Cruising the Caribbean on the Windstar Star Breeze (Podcast)

Hear about travel to the Caribbean on the Windstar Star Breeze as the Amateur Traveler talks about small ships cruising to St Maarten, Barbados, St Lucia, and Antigua.

Windstar is known for their masted sailing yachts but half of their 6 ship fleet are small cruise ships, or yachts, like the Star Breeze. In 2021, all three of these ships were cut in half and stretched 84 feet to allow for more cabins on this all-suite ship. Each ship can now carry 312 guests and Chris Christensen from the Amateur Traveler was invited onboard one of the first cruises of these upgraded ships.

Chris and Mrs. Amateur Traveler flew to St Maarten to board a cruise in the Caribbean. Covid changed the itinerary at the last minute to a cruise to islands in the Lesser Antilles. This episode talks about the 4 islands on the itinerary, shore excursions, life about the Windstar Star Breeze, and what it is like to travel in 2021.

Simon on Travel to Buenos Aires, Argentina – Episode 762

Hi Chris

I love how your podcast manages one week to bring back great memories of past journeys, and then the week after gives great new ideas for future trips.

Can I add one theme missed out by your excellent guest on Buenos Aires recently: tango dancing.

On our first visit to Buenos Aires, my wife and I booked a daily Argentine tango lesson 1-1, and made such good progress that we even managed to do a tango as first dance at our own wedding a few weeks later!

Even if listeners are not dancers themselves, the tango shows are superb in Buenos Aires (usually dinner and performance at a restaurant), and the World Tango Museum is definitely worth a visit for the history of Argentina’s national dance.

The lemon meringue pie is definitely worth waiting in line for at Cafe Tortoni.

And final tip if going to a football game. We got tickets for River Plate but the only seats with any shelter are for VIPs or the press, and we got home absolutely drenched as it rained for 2 hours solid. Still worth going, though!

Thanks again for bringing back these memories

Simon
