The Amateur Traveler talks to Madeline Jhawar from Italy Beyond the Obvious about life as a tour guide for an adventure travel company. Madeline was previously on the Amateur Traveler talking about Travel to Sicily. Madeline talks about her misconceptions about what being a tour guide would be like and the reality of keeping a group of people happy (and not lost). She guided hiking and biking tours primarily in Italy. What skills do you need to be a successful tour guide? It might not be what you think.

Also, since you want people to join the mailing list there should be a link, button or box on the site inviting us to do just that

We ended up deciding on Egypt in November. I will get out the details soon, but it is less expensive for one option than Vietnam.

There is a link to get on the mailing list under the “subscribe for free”, too subtle then?

Egypt is cheaper than Vietnam? o_0

Oh, I always thought that was about subscribing to the podcast only. Yes it is too subtle – your podcast is the primary product of this site, after all!

Yes, the big reason that we will have a cheaper option for Egypt is we are working to choose options to keep the cost down because of what we learned with the Vietnam tour.
